Auditions
Scheduled auditions for all voice parts are held twice a year, in August and January, at the start of each rehearsal season. To request additional information, please contact us using the form at the bottom of this page, and enter "Auditions" in the subject line.
Auditions are relaxed and friendly. Prospective applicants should bring a prepared song to be performed while accompanied by our pianist. Auditions also include an informal get acquainted session. Sight reading and/or vocalization may be requested.
We look forward to welcoming talented new singers to our fun group.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held every Monday evening, for the full chorale, generally starting in late August through the spring concert in May. Rehearsals are held from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park. The week of a concert is devoted to technical rehearsals also held at Christ United Methodist Church from 7:00 - 9:30 p.m.
Additional Details
Dues of $35.00 are paid each season, generally in the fall. Members are required to pay a one-time music deposit of $25.00. This entitles members access to all music to be performed. Women obtain their costumes and any accessories from the Chorale for a fee from our Costume chairpersons. Men are to purchase their own tuxedos but obtain any accessories (bow tie, cummerbund and pocket scarf) for a fee from our Costume chairpersons.
Your audition and acceptance into the South Hills Chorale (a) reflect a sincere desire on your part to participate in the creation of choral music; and (b) imply a commitment on your part to sing in the two major concerts (winter and spring) as well as any community concerts in a particular season.
